The latest Enhanced Follow-up Mutual Evaluation Report relating to the implementation of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT) standards in Kyrgyzstan was published in December 2023. According to that Evaluation by the EAG, Kyrgyzstan has made significant progress in rectifying the technical compliance shortcomings identified in its 2020 mutual evaluation. As a result of this progress, the country has been re-rated on:
- Recommendation 8: from partially compliant to largely compliant
- Recommendation 15: from partially compliant to largely compliant
The Kyrgyz Republic continues to be under enhanced monitoring and will continue to report to the EAG on future progress in improving the national AML/CFT system, to comply with the FATF 40 Recommendations. The next MER is scheduled to take place in 2026.
The training and activities conducted by the EU Global Facility on AML/CFT will seek to support Kyrgyzstan’s efforts to improve its national anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing framework. as defined under the EU Fourth and Fifth Anti-Money Laundering Directives.
