However\, with the rise of financial crime\, it has become essential for these institutions to actively combat risks such as money laundering and terrorist financing. The EU Global Facility has recognised the significance of this challenge and has been providing support to microfinance institutions in Tunisia and Jordan to address these issues. \nOn Wednesday 12th of July 2023\, Jordan’s microfinance institution Tamweelcom achieved a significant milestone by obtaining the AML 30 000 certification\, solidifying their commitment to combating financial crime. \nThe certification ceremony\, held in the presence of representatives from the EU Delegation (EUD) to Jordan\, was opened by Bashar Arafeh\, Chairman of Tamweelcom. His speech was followed by the congratulations of David Hotte\, Team Leader of the EU Global Facility\, who noted: “on behalf of the EU Global Facility\, I want to warmly congratulate Tamweelcom on their remarkable achievement. This certification is a testament to their unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of financial integrity and actively combating the risks of money laundering and terrorist financing”. \n“Tamweelcom’s dedication and exemplary efforts serve as an inspiration to the entire microfinance sector. We\, at the EU Global Facility\, commend their remarkable accomplishment and are confident that their leadership will encourage other financial institutions in the region to follow suit. Together\, we can create a more secure and resilient financial ecosystem in Jordan and beyond.” \nA representative from the EU Delegation to Jordan reiterated the European Union’s support to such endeavours\, calling on collaborative efforts from all microfinance institutions around the Kingdom. Concluding the ceremony\, Cristian Mocanu\, Secretary General of COFICERT\, the Commission for Financial Certifications which conducted Tamweelcom’s assessment\, recognised Tamweelcom’s rigorous efforts in upholding financial integrity and their determination to actively address the risks of money laundering and terrorist financing. \nThis achievement not only positions Tamweelcom as a leader in the microfinance sector but also demonstrates their contribution to promoting good governance practices and fostering a robust financial system in Jordan. The AML 30 000 certification ceremony serves as a testament to Tamweelcom’s unwavering dedication and will undoubtedly inspire other financial institutions in the region to follow suit in the fight against financial crime.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

He emphasised the significance of national coordination in data collection and shed light on the common difficulties encountered by jurisdictions when dealing with this intricate realm of statistics. \nWith only one more specific module remaining—assets recovery\, scheduled online from 24th to 26th July and then onsite from 6th to 8th September—the EUGlobalFacility is steadily supporting Ecuador in its efforts on anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing. \nThese specialised modules are not only instrumental in fostering knowledge sharing but also in equipping participating jurisdictions with the tools and expertise necessary to enhance their justice statistics systems. By addressing the complexities head-on\, these countries pave the way for improved governance\, transparency\, and accountability.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

This groundbreaking collaboration showcases the European Commission‘s commitment to standing at the forefront of the fight against money laundering and counter-terrorist financing across the globe. It does so by funding the variety of collaborative initiatives and partnerships conducted by the EU Global Facility project. \nFrom the 17th to the 21st of July\, some 35 hand-picked representatives from 15 French-speaking jurisdictions will familiarise themselves with the highest FATF standards\, paving the way for enhanced compliance and strengthened anti-money laundering measures in their respective jurisdictions. \nIn attendance are participants from five Financial Action Task Force-Style Regional Bodies (FSRBs)\, namely ESAAMLG (Madagascar\, Burundi)\, GABAC (Chad\, Congo\, Democratic Republic of Congo\, Cameroon\, Gabon\, Central African Republic)\, GIABA (Senegal\, Benin\, Comoros\, Togo\, Guinea\, Burkina Faso) and GAFIC (Haiti). \nThis joint training initiative represents a remarkable milestone in the ongoing efforts to combat financial crimes and establish a more secure global financial system. By launching this collaboration with the standards setting entity -the FATF-\, and bringing together diverse French-speaking countries\, the EU Global Facility continues to support the efforts carried out by partner countries across the world to uphold their compliance and exchange the best practices. \nOut of the 22 training sessions organised by the FATF Training Institute since its reopening in November 2020\, two have already been delivered in French. \nAbout the training\n🔍 The training on FATF standards is of intermediate level\, designed for anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing practitioners who have already been introduced to the FATF standards. This comprehensive training will be conducted through a series of presentations\, group discussions\, and interactive activities. \n🌐 The FATF Standards Training stands as the centrepiece of the FATF Training Institute’s programme situated in Busan\, Republic of Korea. Its objective is to empower participants with the knowledge and skills required to effectively understand and implement anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing measures in their respective jurisdictions. \nThe event is hosted in the prestigious United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Vienna\, Austria\, as a testimony of the significance of this collaborative training in combating money laundering and financing of terrorism on a global scale. \n  \nAs we open this remarkable collaboration\, the EU Global Facility wishes all participants a fruitful and insightful training experience. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

This friction has led to various decisions and opinions from different authorities\, bodies\, and stakeholders. \nThe 4th EU AMLD in 2015 required every member state to set up BO Registers\, gathering and verifying BO information to be made available to various stakeholders\, including members of the general public upon the demonstration of their legitimate interest to access the information. In 2018\, the 5th AMLD removed the condition of legitimate interest for the access to members of the general public\, but a contentious ruling by the ECJ in November 2022 invalidated this unconditional access based on privacy rights concerns. The ECJ ruled that a legitimate interest must be demonstrated to access such information\, reinstating the 4th AMLD conditionality. \nTo discuss the implications of the ECJ ruling\, the EU Global Facility organised a Roundtable where experts shared their practical insights on the impact of the ruling on the effectiveness of BO disclosure and AML frameworks\, as well as possible legal and operational solutions available to address the concerns raised by the court. \nDuring the roundtable\, experts representing stakeholders from both public and private sectors discussed various challenges\, including the balance between transparency and privacy\, data quality concerns in BO registers\, and the importance of access to BO information for investigative purposes.\nThe open discussion highlighted the need for further debate and the importance of finding a long-term solution that can strike a balance between privacy rights\, data protection\, and the need for access to information in the fight against financial crimes. \nThe EU Global Facility is now working to organise sub-groups of experts to prepare documents on key topics\, such as defining legitimate interests\, technological solutions available to exchanging BO information\, and protecting those with a legitimate interest from tipping off. \nStay tuned for more updates on this crucial topic as the European Commission\, the European Parliament\, and the Council are set to finalise their discussions on the upcoming AML Package.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Today we open a three-day regional event in Indonesia 🇮🇩 in collaboration with the Global NPO Coalition on FATF. \nTaking place from July 25th to 27th\, this Regional Consultation brings together together 50 NPO representatives from the APG and Central Asia countries\, including Bangladesh\, Cambodia\, Hong Kong\, India\, Indonesia\, Kazakhstan\, Kyrgyzstan\, Malaysia\, Mongolia\, Nepal\, Pakistan\, Philippines\, Sri Lanka\, and Thailand as well as from Croatia\, Georgia\, the Netherlands\, the Republic of Moldova\, Russia and the UK. Representatives of the APG Secretariat as well as the authorities of the host country – Indonesia – will also be in attendance. \nWe are also happy to announce that the Chairperson of MONEYVAL and representatives from the EU Delegation to Jakarta will also address the audience. \nThe primary objective of this meeting is to discuss the upcoming revision of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Recommendation 8 Best Practices Paper (BPP) by the FATF. The Rec 8 BPP revision is a crucial step towards aligning international standards with the evolving needs and realities of NPOs. It also provides an opportunity to address any existing challenges and improve the effectiveness of measures designed to combat money laundering and terrorist financing while safeguarding the legitimate activities of NPOs. \nIn this sense\, the EU Global Facility and its partners are working to foster an inclusive and collaborative environment\, where we aim to gather valuable insights and contributions from NPOs of the region\, ensuring that their perspectives and expertise are incorporated into the final proposal to be submitted to the FATF \nIndeed\, following the four previous consultations held for the regions of Latin America/the Caribbean\, Africa\, Europe and MENA\, this collaborative effort will culminate in a final global event scheduled to take place in Bonn in September. There\, the consolidated global position will be discussed and finalised. \nKey Objectives: \n\n🔹 Facilitate dialogue and exchange of experiences among NPOs in the APG region\n🔹 Gather input and feedback to inform the Rec 8 BPP revision process\n🔹 Strengthen the common global position of NPOs\n🔹 Enhance collaboration between NPOs\, regulators\, and policymakers\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

It shall also serve as an opportunity to review the plans for the upcoming months and explore potential areas for collaboration between the two initiatives. \nOne significant event on the agenda is the planned global consultations of Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) in September 2023in Bonn. This consultation aims to address the ongoing reform of the FATF Recommendation 8 and its Best Practices Paper\, representing a crucial milestone in their collective efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing in the not-for-profit sector. \nThe EU Global Facility and GIZ IFF projects have been maintaining regular contacts to ensure that their activities in regions of mutual interest\, such as Africa and Latin America\, do not overlap or duplicate efforts. By coordinating their efforts\, they can streamline their impact and enhance effectiveness in tackling global financial challenges. \n“As two projects implemented on behalf of the European Union\, we strongly believe that regular interactions to discuss evolutions in the field of illicit financial flows can help foster innovation\, create synergies\, and strengthen our shared commitment to combating money laundering and terrorist financing\,” stated David Hotte. \n“Only through collaborative efforts can we succeed in addressing illicit financial flows and promoting financial integrity both within the EU and in partner countries across the globe.” \nThe meeting was hosted at the premises of GIZ\, who is also a co-implementing agency of the EU Global Facility\, alongside Expertise France and NI-CO.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

It brought together competent authorities from the UAE\, Jordan\, Austria\, Belgium\, Luxembourg and Malta\, with the aim of fostering cooperation and knowledge exchange among them. \n“Business and BO registers are essential instruments for governments and businesses to implement functionning and effective AML frameworks. Registries are confronted to increased complexities in operating their registers and need to adapt their business operating model continuously in a fast-evolving environment of international standards\, technological advancements\, increased stakeholder expectations\, data quality and enhanced interoperability” stated Yves Gonner\, Director of the Luxembourg Register\, while highlighting the relevance of this week’s workshop in bringing together jurisdictions of various backgrounds\, context and BO registration models. \nA number of key topics were covered during the training\, including technical implementation of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Recommendations 24 and 25\, the role of analysis and cooperation in ensuring access to adequate and accurate beneficial ownership information\, as well as enforcement and sanctioning mechanisms. \nThe event featured contributions from distinguished experts from financial intelligence units and beneficial ownership registers who shared first hand insights gained from their experiences in implementing beneficial ownership frameworks in their respective jurisdictions. In addition to panel discussions and presentations\, the activity incorporated group exercises\, case studies and dedicated sessions on the challenges and possible solutions to address risks related to complex and cross border structures. These interactive sessions sought to enable participants to learn from practical scenarios and enhance their understanding of the complexities involved in implementing effective beneficial ownership registration mechanisms. \nStarted in April 2021\, the collaboration between the UAE and the EU Global Facility has covered a wide range of AML/CFT-related matters\, from justice to cryptocurrency and correspondent banking. Today marked the 21st technical assistance activity delivered by the EU project.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

By adhering to the standards set forth by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF)\, jurisdictions can ensure the robustness of their systems and exhibit their commitment to combating money laundering and terrorist financing. The training will address the critical role of AML/CFT statistics in the context of FATF mutual evaluations. The establishment of an adequate statistics system was required to Ecuador in the FATF Mutual Evaluar-ion. \nIn his welcoming remarks\, EU Ambassador to Ecuador Charles-Michel Geurts\, noted: “I welcome this important activity through the EU Global Facility on anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT). Anti-money laundering efforts are crucial to disrupt the criminal chain attacking the criminals that try to clean the profit from their illegal activities. Fur-thermore\, we´re honoured to support Ecuador´s implementation of GAFILAT´s recommendations” \nFor his part\, UAFE Director General Roberto Andrade\, highlighted the importance of this event that allows to strengthen the construction of an AML/CFT statistical system in the country. “Having a solid statistical system is essential for the joint work of the various national entities in the prevention\, detection and eradication of crimes related to money laundering and terrorist financing. The Financial and Economic Analysis Unit is grateful for the support provided to Ecuador”. \nThis event\, aimed at thirty representatives of the UAFE\, the Attorney General’s Office\, the National Police\, the Judiciary Council\, the National Court of Justice\, the Attorney General’s Office\, the Comptroller General’s Office and the Technical Secretariat for Public Sector Real Estate Management (INMOBILIAR)\, follows a series of four online modules on statistics\, FATF Immediate Results 7 and 8\, police statistics\, justice statistics and statistics on seizures and These threats encompass national and transnational organised crime\, drug trafficking\, money laundering\, public and private corruption\, terrorism\, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. This dynamic necessitates a more rigorous\, technically advanced\, and coordinated approach among all domestic and international institutions involved in the criminal justice system.” \nMinister Llanes further elaborated\, stating\, “Our objective is to continue enhancing the capacity of law enforcement agencies to further bolster the ongoing intensive monitoring efforts within our nation. We aim to achieve more substantial outcomes\, particularly in the context of result 7\, pertaining to the investigation and prosecution of money laundering\,” as highlighted by Minister Liliana Alcaraz Recalde of Seprelad. \n“The generous support from the EU’s Global Facility enables us to transform intelligence into actionable evidence\, aligning with the overarching theme set forth by this international organisation during the inaugural collaborative training initiative between Seprelad and Senaclaft\,” affirmed the highest-ranking authority. \nCollaboration and information exchange among institutions involved in AML/CFT efforts are crucial for success. However\, these processes have been identified as problematic not only among regulators and law enforcement agencies but also between the public and private sectors. As a response\, the EU Global Facility designed the “Turning Intelligence into Evidence” workshop series. \nEU Head of the Political Section of the EU Delegation to Paraguay\, Fredrik Sterner\, highlighted the importance of cooperation in order to address this challenge\, commending the work conducted by the EU Global Facility in this regard. \n“ It is unthinkable to talk about prevention or repression of money laundering\, working in isolation and without international cooperation. But coordination must also be regional in scope\, in order to be able to confront the large criminal organisations that attack our region with such harmful scourges as drug trafficking\, organised crime and\, as a consequence\, money laundering\,” stated Maria Noel Cabillon\, legal adviser at the SENACLAFT in her opening speech. \nSpeaking on behalf of the Uruguayan authorities\, she highlighted: “Uruguay\, like many other regional countries\, faces a shortage of money laundering convictions\, necessitating comprehensive work throughout the process\, from information gathering to evidence evaluation in court. These sessions are of paramount importance\, bringing together 15 representatives from 8 organisations in Uruguay to share their expertise\, acquire new knowledge\, and foster the much-needed coordination and inter-institutional collaboration within our system.” \nAs of September 2023\, the course has been delivered to partners in Jordan\, Panama\, Seychelles\, Turkiye and the UAE. Today marks the very first workshop delivered in the Latin American continent. It is also the first time this course is jointly delivered to two partner jurisdictions. This mission follows online training delivered following the request for technical assistance made by the authorities of Malawi to the European Commission in the spring of 2023. \nToday\, the team starts with a hybrid workshop on the FATF Rec 8\, aimed at enhancing the capacities of Malawian authorities and Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) in understanding and implementing the Financial Action Task Force (FATF)‘s said Recommendation 8. More specifically\, it seeks to provide insightful contributions to the Working Group responsible for the development of Malawi’s NPO Sectoral Risk Assessment in order to improve their capacity to assess and mitigate risks within the Non-Profit sector. \nOver the next few days\, the team\, led by David Hotte and Key Expert on Justice/CSO Mamuka Jgenti will carry out a scoping exercise with various state institutions of Malawi. These discussions\, coordinated by the EU Delegation in Lilongwe\, aim to ensure alignment with the priorities and needs formulated by Malawi on AML/CFT. \n🇪🇺 🇲🇼 We wish to extend our special thanks to the EU Delegation to Malawi for their support in organising this successful event and giving the EU Global Facility the best conditions to provide technical assistance to our partners.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

For two days\, they will exchange ideas on shaping the future of Recommendation 8 and identifying collaborative efforts to improve compliance and financial integrity while allowing civic space to flourish. High-level decision-makers will also be present\, in order to address policy and operational gaps. By the conference’s end\, we aim to determine proportionate oversight and meaningful engagement between NPOs and stakeholders. \nHow did this global event come about?\nBetween March and July 2023\, the EU AML/CFT Global Facility co-hosted and sponsored a series of regional consultations for nonprofit organisations (NPOs)\, FATF Regional Style Bodies and Financial Intelligence Units with the aim of collecting\, documenting and analysing practices of meaningful engagement between the NPO sector and relevant (inter)governmental stakeholders. The outcome of these events has informed the ongoing FATF project on the Unintended Consequences of their AML/CFT framework on NPOs\, and specifically the revision of the Best Practices Paper (BPP) on the implementation of Recommendation 8. \nThe events took place in Buenos Aires\, Warsaw\, Cape Town\, Amman and Bali. Participants provided substantive input and feedback on the revision of the BPP to FSRBs\, FIUs and the penholders of the BPP review initiative and\, in turn\, these stakeholders reflected on the practices showcased by NPOs in relation to the advancement of the review\, coupled with a potential (technical) change to the Standard (Recommendation 8) itself. \nCentral to the discussions were: an approach that is  proportionate to the terrorism financing risk; the supervision of only those NPOs that are potentially at high risk for terrorism financing abuse; the prevention of wholesale bank de-risking of NPOs; and the necessity of meaningful engagement between NPOs and all relevant stakeholders within the  AML/CFT sphere. \nBy the end of the global conference now taking place in Bonn\, participants will have decided on proportionate approaches to oversight of the sector and what meaningful engagement between NPOs and relevant stakeholders looks like. \n  \n❓ Background: The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) sets international AML/CFT standards for over 200 jurisdictions. FATF Recommendation 8 focuses on preventing the misuse of non-profit organisations (NPOs) for terrorism financing. However\, its implementation has unintentionally burdened the NPO sector with overregulation and financial exclusion. This conference explores solutions to strike a balance between security and preserving civic space.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” overflow=”visible” overlay_strength=”0.3″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_spacing=”default” centered_text=”true” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” column_position=”default” advanced_gradient_angle=”0″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/2″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” animation_type=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” gradient_type=”default”][vc_gallery type=”flexslider_style” images=”6971\,6960\,6917\,6941\,6924\,6912\,6881\,6890″ onclick=”link_no”][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_spacing=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” column_position=”default” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/2″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” animation_type=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”30px”][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBFclDdsBVo&t=29s&ab_channel=EUGF-AMLCFTGlobalFacility” align=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” overflow=”visible” overlay_strength=”0.3″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_spacing=”default” centered_text=”true” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” column_position=”default” advanced_gradient_angle=”0″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” animation_type=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” gradient_type=”default”][nectar_cta btn_style=”see-through” heading_tag=”h5″ text_color=”#009fe3″ button_color=”default” button_border_thickness=”0px” link_type=”new_tab” alignment=”center” alignment_tablet=”default” alignment_phone=”default” display=”block” display_tablet=”inherit” display_phone=”inherit” link_text=”Click to see all photos” url=”https://www.global-amlcft.eu/pictures/”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

According to the minister\, this regional conference will demonstrate that Panama is heading in the right direction\, and they will continue to take actions to enhance the country’s transparency\, as emphasised by the head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). \nAlexander recounted how\, in June 2019\, Panama committed at the highest level to undertake concrete and sustainable actions with the goal of “strengthening the prevention system\, including the effective implementation of a legal framework that not only complies with international standards but also maintains Panama’s competitiveness in the international services we offer.” The process involved the modification and implementation of new measures to prevent and combat money laundering and terrorist financing\, ensuring full compliance with international standards. \nRegarding the creation of Panama’s Unique Beneficial Owner Registry\, Alexander highlighted that it was an initiative aimed at strengthening both national and international transparency and cooperation. \nIsabel Vecchio\, the Technical Secretary of the National Commission against Money Laundering\, Terrorism Financing\, and Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (CNBC)\, reiterated that Panama possesses a robust registry “that has allowed us to strengthen our system for preventing money laundering and combating terrorist financing.” \nSpeaking on behalf of the European Union Delegation to Panama\, Political Counsellor Adolfo Campos\, underlined that the countries should take measures to prevent the misuse of legal persons and other legal structures for money laundering or terrorist financing. “Countries should ensure that relevant\, accurate and up-to-date information is available on the final beneficiary\, to which competent authorities\, including law enforcement bodies and financial intelligence units\, can access quickly and efficiently\, through a beneficial ownership register or an equivalent mechanism\,” he stated\, adding that “beneficial ownership registration systems ultimately help to achieve a fairer\, safer and more prosperous world”. \nDayra Carrizo\, who leads the Superintendence of Non-Financial Subjects\, also delivered welcoming remarks.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” overflow=”visible” overlay_strength=”0.3″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_spacing=”default” centered_text=”true” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” column_position=”default” advanced_gradient_angle=”0″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” animation_type=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” gradient_type=”default”][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”30px”][vc_gallery type=”flexslider_style” images=”6980\,6981\,6982\,6983\,6984\,6985\,6986\,6987″ onclick=”link_no”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

The event spotlighted crucial topics\, from evolving BO Registry regulations to practical application\, public-private partnerships\, and challenges in final BO registration and verification. This conference laid the foundation for a dynamic four-day training\, equipping stakeholders with the insights and strategies needed to bolster transparency and combat money laundering. \nThroughout the training\, the EU Global Facility emphasised the importance of international standards and the critical role played by local institutions in ensuring transparency. Our experts facilitated discussions on FATF and EU BO disclosure standards and engaged the audience with hands-on exercises\, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the challenges of AML/CFT risks and work collaboratively with their clients. \n“The knowledge and skills acquired during this training will empower these local institutions to recognize and address the complexities of BO transparency effectively. We are excited to witness their commitment to enhancing accountability and combating AML/CFT risks in their region\,” said Key Expert on BO for the EU Global Facility Alexandre Taymans. \nThe participants later delved into international standards on BO requirements and identification\, highlighting the role of the Superintendence of Non-Financial Subjects in ensuring compliance. The training unpacked the crucial requirements for resident agents to gather\, verify and upload BO information and studied the frameworks for disclosure of BO information by Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
