DESCRIPTION:[vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” column_margin=”default” column_direction=”default” column_direction_tablet=”default” column_direction_phone=”default” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” row_border_radius=”none” row_border_radius_applies=”bg” overflow=”visible” overlay_strength=”0.3″ gradient_direction=”left_to_right” shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_spacing=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” column_position=”default” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” animation_type=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]\nRegional consultation on FATF Recommendation 8 revision gathers MENAFATF countries in Amman\nAmman\, Jordan\, 30 May 2023 – The EU Global Facility on Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing (EU GF-AML/CFT) on Tuesday launched the Regional Consultation on the revisions of the Best Practices Paper on Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Recommendation 8 in Amman\, Jordan. \nHeld under the title “MENA NPO Regional Consultation: Best Practices in Countering Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing While Preserving Civic Space”\, the two-day regional consultation is co-organised with the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL) and the support of the Global NPO Coalition on FATF. \nOver 40 civil society representatives from Algeria\, Iraq\, Jordan\, Lebanon\, Libya\, Morocco\, Palestine\, Tunisia and Yemen are participating in these consultations\, which aim to discuss the challenges and best practices in the implementation of FATF Recommendation 8 related to the not-for-profit sector. \nOn the second day of the consultations\, civil society representatives identified the best practices\, challenges and recommendations to be provided to FATF\, before discussing their findings with the co-lead on the revision of the Best Practices Paper. \nThis event is part of a series of regional consultations organised by the EU GF-AML/CFT in co-operation with the Global NPO Coalition on FATF and in co-ordination with the respective FATF Style Regional Bodies. Launched in March 2023 in Buenos Aires for the GAFILAT and CFATF regions\, the activity was replicated in Warsaw for the MONEYVAL region a month later and in Cape Town (ESSAMLG\, GABAC and GIABA regions) in May 2023.
